WD Timing

A few weeks back, someone wrote that timing on a WD could be adjusted by loosening and rotating the distributor assembly while the tractor was running. I tried this and it worked somewhat...the tractor runs much smoother at high rpm's, but still is a little rough at lower rpm's. If you're going to make an adjustment like this, what throttle setting should the tractor be at? When I adjusted mine, the throttle wasn't even 1/4 open.

If the tractor starts and runs then the timing is close. You can double check with a timing light - see WD45 timing several posts back. Books says to check the timing with a timing light at above 1000 rmp - fast idle.

My guess is that you have another problem. Could be several things. If you haven't done so do a complete tune up, change the plugs, check the distributor cap, check the valve lash. If that doesn,t solve the problem check for vacuum leaks at the manifold/carburator.
