I have a 1960 D14 Allis and would like to know if a motor from a 1953 WD45 will bolt into the D14. Does anyone know?

I agree with Dan, it won't be a real easy swap. The engines from D-14's were the same as early D-15 engines. Even the later 160 cubic inch engines from D-15's would fit a lot easier. Also some D-10 and D-12's used the same 149 cubic inch blocks as D-14's did. I'll bet some Gleaner combines used the same engine as the D-14 but I'm not sure which ones, maybe C's or E's. In other words there are a lot of blocks around that should work easier than that of a WD45. Even cracked and welded blocks can be very usable, don't disreguard all cracked blocks.

Actually no Gleaner combines used the same engine as the D14. THe E was the smallest Gleaner made after AC bought the company and it used the D17 engine. The C Gleaner used the 6 cylinder 262 like found in the D19.

The reason for the possible swap is that I have a chance to buy a good running engine from a WD45, while my D14 is currently engineless. I bought the D14 with no engine! Perhaps you could suggest a source of a good ( not welded )complete engine. By the way, thank you for your response to my question. I very much appreciate it.

Call 715-673-4829. He might have an engine. Lots of Allis parts and will ship. I'd recommend a D-15 engine if you can find one. More power.

No. THe WD45 engine is significantly larger than the D14. While anything is possible with enough machine work and $$, you'd be a lot better off repairing your D14 engine (what's wrong with it?) or else finding a different one.
