the head on my wd is pitted /burnt away and leaking on the exhaust ports, the intake ports are fine. is there anything i can use to level out the exhaust ports ie; jb weld or marine tex, to stop the exhaust leak? i don't want to remove the head and send it to the machine shop yet.

Mine was doing the same thing, I bought a tube of high temp silicone gasket maker and put that on the head along with new cup gaskets and put more on the manifold. Hasn't leaked since. Have plowed with and has not bothered.

My son and I did that and it held up pretty good. That was about eight years ago. The tractor has been used fairly hard not much plowing but quite a bit of baling. It is now starting to leeak again. We took the manifold of smeared a lot of JB weld in the pitted area and put on a new gasket set and put the manifold back on with new studs and let it set a couple of days. I would recomend if you do this get every thing ready to go and have someone to help. We are ready to overhaul and definately will have the head worked on or replaced but it did work well for us.
