I was told it is the nature of the D-17 to over run the governor and blow the motor. Has anyone heard or had this happen? It happened to me. Now I am need of an engine. I am just tearing it down so not sure what all damage is done yet.

Sometimes the governor weights break and fall off causing the engine to run wild. Its not real coomon ;but have seen it happen. Usually you can shut it off in time before alot of damage has occured. later Gary
