I have owned this WC for 12 years now. I got it as a non running tractor. I got it running and used it for quite a few years until It started smoking. It became harder to start also until I just gave up on it. I diagnosed it as a bad float and could not find one localy. It has set in my brothers barn for at least three years. The engine is free, not locked up. It will blow your finger out of the hole with the plug out and cranking it over, so the compression is adaquite for combustion. My problem I think is still in the carb. I found a place that carried floats for the Marvel-schebler carbs for 8-N Fords which look and are the exact same float as this carb. I've been in and out of this tractor for two days now, adjusting valves, had the carb apart 10 times, reset the timing, checked the magneto for spark. I got it to fire one time real good but I have yet to get it to do it again. I pull the plugs evertime I try to start it and there seems to be no smell of gas on the plugs, they are dry as a bone. I took the carb off and stuck my finger up into the intake and the walls were damp with gas. When I choke the carb and crank it over a few revolutions, gas starts to come out of the carb throat. ????? Any ideas of where or what to do? Anyone have this tropuble before? I am looking at just buying a new carb, but I'm selling this tractor and don't want to sink anymore money into than necessary.

Jon,CHECK TIMING,RECHECK TIMING,and when you"re positive the timing is right,CHECK TIMING again.It is very easy to get the timing off and go the wrong way when adjusting it.

Thanks. I"ll check it again, but I have had the magneto off twice and set the timing and rechecked the timing numerous times. I"m thinking that the load needle seat is gone and it"s not siphoning the fuel correctly.

Just to double check, the #1 cylinder is the front cylinder???? right???
