Help I.D. 4 cylinder AC diesel

Asking for help in identifying the 4 cylinder diesel engine that we recently picked up on our road trip from a very nice fellow in Michigan. It was in a fork lift truck and it has a three-speed hydraulic transmission connected to it. Photos are posted on the "Help Identify" page. Don't be confused by the water cooled exhaust and the Alpine Green (Detroit) starter--this engine is definitely orange underneath the yellow paint.
I was thinking it might fit a D15 or maybe a small AC crawler. Block # is 450210 and there's a large "S" with the letter "F" in the top of the "S" and the letter "CO" in the bottom of the "S". The injection pump is American Bosch. Thanks for any help.

Because of the American Bosch injection set up I am inclined to think it may be the older Buda 153D.

Kevin, The D15 used the D175 diesel, as did the HD3 crawler. It was of a Buda design. The engine you have is quite similar, but there are differences. The starter on all the 175's I've seen mounts out the rear, at the top of the bell housing. But, seeing as the tranny is different, this could be the way this one was designed. Also, all the 175's I've seen have a RoosaMaster injection pump. The Bosch may have been used on some of their industrial applications, but I'm not sure on that. It really appears to be a D175, but without tearing into it, I wouldn't be completely sure. Good luck!

The American Bosch pump was used on the D230 used on WD-45 Diesel. This engine looks like a 4-cylinder version of that engine. Note the water outlet at the front of the engine typical Buda.

I was hoping it was for a WD45, but when I saw it was a 4-cylinder I knew it wasn't. Wonder if it would bolt into a 45? We'll be picking one up in a few weeks that needs an engine but its a gas model. Thought about putting this diesel in it if we get it running.

Remember this,parts for the American Bosch pumps are getting hard to come by,and expensive when you find them.I found this out when working on a wd45d for a nieghbor,and that info came from Columbus Diesel Supply.
