timing and govenor gear

Ok I surrender. Can someone please give me some advice as to what keeps the timing and govenor gear aligned up. Does the gear on the shaft have a pin in it? Or just a pressed fit? Grasping at straws now. My shaft that runs through the govenor keeps moving in and I can't keep my C model in time. Keep haveing to retime it each time I want to start it. Can't seem to find any other problem. The fiber gear and metal gear are aligned up each time I have checked those.

Guess. You are missing or have a sheared pin or key some place. You will have to start at the distributor and work in until you find the problem.

Check the gear on the bottom of the distributor. Hold the rotor end of the shaft and try to turn the gear on the bottom.

Had a distributor with that pin sheared - same actions as you describe. Both ends of the pin were showing. Every time I started the vehicle I would have to retime the distributor.
