I have a "C" that I cannot get started. It turns but won't fire. I had the mag off, got it rebuilt and now the thing just turns over. I think I put the mag. back on how it came off but am not sure. How do I find top dead center on the flywheel. I have a manual but it doesn't descibe how to find top dead center and what I should reference to set the timing. The thing ran well when I took the mag. off.

take out a plug and put in the plug wire. lay it on a unpainted portion of the motor block and look for sparks while you crank. if you have no spark, your mag is bad. if you have spark, it needs to be timed.----#1 cylinder is in the front. the timing makr is in a 1 inch hole on the left side of the flywheel housing. crank the motor by hand with #1 plug out till you feel air pressure on your thumb over the hole. this is compression stroke. look in the 1 inch hole and stop cranking at TDC. piston #1 is at the top and mag should be firing #1 plug wire. here is dueys page for additional data.
