I recently purchased an allis c with a wide front. I am wondering if it came with a wide front, was that an option or did the c only come as a tricycle? . Paid $1000 for it. Was that a good deal? All the metal is straight, new tires on the rear and fronts can't be more than a year or two old. Runs great, took 4th place in a pull less than a week after I got it. Thank you.

Heath The wide front on a C is a lot differn;t than on a B. The front end on a C has a gear box in front and steers out to each front wheel from the center. The B steers up to the left front and then across to the other wheel. According to Norm swinfords allis book they only built a little over 5000 Cs with a wide front and only offered them the last 4 years.

LIke Steve says, I've seen a few tractors for sale that are B's from the transmission/torque tube forward and C or CA's to the rear. They all have the B wishbone front axle.

adjustable wide front end was an option. if you hav a cast wishbone alxe, it came off a B.. the original "optional" wide front for the C was adjustable beam design. you r steering arm on the gear box under gas tank should point straight up. your steering rod should go to a bevel gear box below the radiator and tie onto the short arm at that point.---- if the rod goes to the front left wheel king pin, it has been modified.

Do you have a photo of the center pivot pin showing how it's welded to the adj wide front?

on the "B" there is a center horizontal pivot pin. THe C was designed as a narrow front end with the 90 degree gear box mounted in front of the radiator. center vertical shaft connected to the wheels sets in upper and lower bearings. when you get a wide front they use the same basic gear box and mount a vertical shaft onto the box axle. odd looking setup.---- if you mount a B front end on a C, you use the B mounting block with the 7/8 inch pivot pin in the center of the axle (horizontal). i dont have a photo, but might be able to copy the service manual picture if i cna find it. send me a note.
