Are there different types of hydraulic fluids? If so,what type of hydraulic fluid do I need for my C?

the transmission, bevel gear, and pto all share the same oil cavity. there are three 1/2 inch pipe plugs on the bottom of the housings to drain all three. fill thru the 1 inch pipe plug by your left foot. originally it had 20 wt motor oil. the new standard is hydraulic-trans fluid. if you want to standardize with another tracotr you have that is o.k. if you dont have another tractor, the go to Wal Mar or farm store and get "universal" hytrans fluid, will say 821 AGCO spec on the back

Thanks Steve. Is it ok to add the new fluid to what is already in there?...and by the way what is the capacity on a C.

it only holds 8 quarts. normally the oil is not changed for years. probably has crud and water inside also. do your self a favor. spend $10. at wall mart and change it out this weekend. will be good for many years to come and give you a good piece of mind.
