Value of D17 Series4

My grandmother wants to sell all of her farm equipment. She has various implements but my main concern is my grandfathers tractor. It is a 67 Series 4 (he purchased new) AC D17 with widefront, gas 4cyl engine, 3-point hookup,and manual steering. I got it running after a tune-up and it runs very good with good oil pressure. It is in fair to good condition but needs a new seat,paint, maybe belts and hoses (for serious work) probably a few gages but the tires are good.What would be a good price? I talked to some local dealers and was told that it was not worth very much because of the size, power output and that AC does not exist anymore. Also, she might sell it to me for a very good price if I decide to buy it before her estate sale. I am thinking that I might want to buy it because I like the old tractor. Sorry for the long post but any help would be very much appreciated.

I would buy it if I were you. For two reasons. As time goes on you will enjoy more and more having your grandpa's old tractor. Plus these are really good looking machines when painted. They are also very good working tractors. New is not always superior regardless of what some dealers may say. Parts are still available from your Agco dealer. To fix this tractor up sounds relatively easy since you already have it running with good oil pressure..and that means a lot. I recently restored a '68 AC D-12 Series III and I really enjoy the appearance and function of the D series machines. Offer her $2,000 - $3,000 and you both get a deal in more ways than one. It is worth a discount to keep it in the family in my opinion.

if that tractor was on the local lots around here in mo. the price would be $5500. a seat, belts, hoses, minor things dont cost that much, and paint wont make it run any better. add some for 3 pt. and the series 4 pakage, substact for no ps, add for good tires, offer her $3000. if she takes that you will have made a good deal. at a sale the other day a plain 17 with stuck engine sold for $2350.
