My "47 model b pto and hydraulics quit working while mowing.I have not torn it apart yet,but wondered if anybody might have an idea what to look for. Thanks alot

I know what the problem is right now because it's happened to me more than once. The mower you use is a tow behind unit and when you turn the pto and the mower "clunk" and then when you straighten up sound fine. The problem will cost .45 to a 1.00 for the parts pluss the hydro fluid and 1hr or 2. The woodrif key has sheired off the pto shaft. I gotten good at taking the pto apart and replacing the key. It will help to get a IT manual and have it ready when getting things off. Don't worry I can do this repair and have to have help doing others. I like the tractor and will use it for mowing and from time to time have to replace the key. Remember thalways stop forward motion and pto before turning. They just arn't made like the new tractors. of the pto shaft does not spin when engaged then you have trouble in the rear cover. the top spaft is driven straight thru the transmission. you have a sliding rear gear to engage the pto and pump drive. drain the transmission case oil, remove the 8 or so 3/8 bolts holding the rear half moon cover onto the transmission case. should be obvious at this point. not a bad job to get the cover off.
