the block is cracked between cylinders 1&2 2&3 3&4, at the top under the head gasket is it possible to use the block as is? is this common?
the crankshaft is worn, a guy who my dad knows doesn't like the fact the your finger nail can find small scrapes should it be ground down.

Jared, I have two more blocks if you want to come back and pick one up. Also 2 cranks. Never been mic'ed, so I don't know if they are better or worse then the one you have. Hope it's going well. Steve

What I have been told that it is common for B & C engines to have cracks between the cylinders, head gasket takes care of them. Mine was cracked same way, put on new gasket all is fine now. The best thing to do with the crankshaft is have someone mic it for you, then you will know if it is within specifications. Rod journal Diameter.....1.9365 to 1.9375 Main journals..... ..... .....2.249 to 2.250

I tore my D-14 down the other day, it has the same cracks, also the crank was rough, machine shop said it would turn 010 R 020 M.
