I have started restoring an IB. It has me a bit puzzled on the year of production. The manual I received says it was built before 1947 but when I don't know. The serial is B-31172. Does anyone out there have one around this number? If so I'm looking for pictures to get an idea on what it should look like. The fellow we got it from added some things I don't think belong. Also what are the correct colors? Is it like the deere industrials which were yellow? I have high speed internet so if anyone has pictures just send them straight to me. Thanks a lot.

the IB prior to the war was built on the B line and had that serial number. After the war they had IB serial numbers. If you have a very early 39 or 40 it probalby has hand brakes? does it have a frame around the motor and radiator? fenders off a WD45 style? =--- send me a photo and i can help. i sent you photos of a 1952 IB and a 1942 "conversion" which is an orchard design B to look like a IB, but no frame. I have photos of an old 1939 IB a guy sent me if you want to compare. looks a lot like my 52, but more primitive in details.

From the serial number you provided, it is not an IB. That is the serial number for a 1939 B. What makes you think it's an IB?
