hello gentelmen and ladies,i have aWD45,1953.how much of what does the tranny need?what is the best fluid and how much fof the the hydyralics?can the stock hydralic pump handle two more pistons to dump the bucket?.

The transmission takes something like 4 gallons. There are 3 drain plugs, one in the PTO housing or cover plate if you don't have a PTO. One in the sheetmetal cover on the bottom of the transmission, and one in the bottom of the differential. There are two fill plugs, both on the left side of the transmission. One is behind the hydraulic dipstick/filler, the other is a little further back. Drain all and use both fills. Also take the pans off the final drives, clean, put back on and fill to fill plug on side of pan. Not too many farmers did the fianl drives and some have some old and nasty oil in them. Use 80/90 gear oil for both.

The transmission, rear end, and final drives all use gear lube; usually 80W90. The hydraulics originally used 20Wt. engine oil, but I think todays universal hydraulic fluids are much better. I drained and refilled my hydraulics with a fluid called PowerFluid from the local FS dealer. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the hydraulics housing and one on the bottom of the hydraulic control housing. The drain plug on the hydraulics housing has a magnet in it that should be cleaned off. The pump could handle the two additional cylinders if they are the high pressure (3500 psi) style, but you may run out of hydraulic fluid due to the reservoir being small.
