If I were to get an eight volt battery, how do you advance the regulator or generator to put out more amps. I have a 1951 WD.

i agree with steve. you dont have a voltage regulator, you have a cutout for high voltage. the cutout matches the generator to the battery. if the battery is 8 volt, the generator will do just fine, and he cutout will still open when motor is off.

Will,
You may not have to do any adjusting at all. The 8V will hold a little more reserve in it than the 6V will. You wouldn't want it to be to high causing an "overcharging" condition on yer' new battery. If your machine is equipped with a 3 brush generator, you can adjust the third brush to add a little more "juice" to the system, but I would try it as is and see how it operates...
