Thinking of buying a 1949 WD. Can a person still buy parts for these tractors or do you have to go to junk yards. And was there any problems with the WD, I know very little about this tractor. And from what I see of this tractor it is very complete and was well taken care of. Is there a Allis Chalmers page that a person can go to, to research this tractor I have no idea what size the engine even is?

any input would be helpful, thank you

dont forget ,once u have the wd u gotta get all the implements !!;) that's when they become really fun . nothing like putting out a crop with your wd and d 17 . like i have , u can keep your 150 hp tractors !!after driving those huge tractors down 30 " rows your wd will feel as nimble as a mountain goat ! good luck and have fun .

Terry,

My Dad bought a WD for $1800 in 1949. I still have it and just had the engine overhauled for the first time. Its been essentially trouble free for 50 years. Its about 35hp or a 2 plow tractor. Feel free to email if you have specific questions as to whether this tractor would suit your needs.

Tim,
Buy it! I have a '48 WD and love the ol girl. Like Rich said, it takes a bit more than a trip to the local auto store for parts, but they are out there.
The Allis website Rich referred to is the best. You will find lots of help there. Enjoy the WD.

Guys thanks for answering my questions. I really apreciate all the info I can get about this tractor. I was originally going to buy a Farmall but the Allis Chalmer caught my eye. I am going to the web page and I will be talking to the fella that has the tractor within the next few days. once again thanks for helping me out, glad that there are people like you all out there to help other tractor lovers when in need. Terry
