I am trying to find a crank for a 273 buda engine(Cockshutt 50).I have been told that AC used this engine or very close to it in some of there tractors and combines.Any of you AC experts know which AC engine crank will fit right into my 273 buda? Thanks for your time.

I believe that the crank on the 230 and 273 was the same. The crank on the 262 was stroked another quarter inch. The 230 was used in the Gleaner A combine and the 262 in the C combine.

They were not bad engines, but could have used a little more oil pressure. You can shim the relief valve spring to get it.

Actually, I think the stroke may have been the same. The 273 had no sleeves, so the bore would have been bigger. It is possible the crank from a 262 might fit.

you could use a 230 gas or diesel from a combine or WD45 diesel, a 262 gas or diesel from a D19. The stroke is different on the 273.

From what I've read The Buda Manufacturing Company was bought out by Allis Chalmers in 1953. But I'm pretty sure Allis never used the 273 in any of their equipment. Give this guy a call in Shreveport, LA. His link to his website should be listed if not its www.budaengine.com
