Mark,
We can help you out with a mag if you need one. We rebuild, service, exchange, and sell parts for Fairbanks, Wico and other magneto manufacturers. We also offer a mag to distributor conversion for your machine with an optional electronic ignition for a more maintenance free system. Drop us a line if interested... Thank You Ron for the referral! It's appreciated!!

It is a WD45- the original equipment was a DISTRIBUTOR.

All WD45s used a battery ignition, with the distributor. Most WDs had the magneto. If the unit with the spark plug wires is vertical, it is a distributor. Much better starting system than the magneto.

Both my WD and WD-45 have distributer ignitions. A lot of people might take exception to your statement about the distributer being a better starting system. A properly set good working magneto will probably give a "hotter" spark than the battery ignition system. I assume that is why so many old time flathead Ford hotrodders used those neat aftermarket magnetos
