Hi all, I need some help. I did a dumb thing yesterday. I bought plug wires and was replacing the old ones, and even though I know not to pull all the wires off at once, that's exactly what I did. Now I know the firing order, and I know that the #1 plug is closest to the radiator from past posts, but what I don't know is which wire port on the distributror is #1. Can anyone help me out? I saw other posts describing which is which with a magneto, but I don't have a magneto. Any help is much appreciated.

Generally, #1 on the distributor is the one toward the front and nearest the engine block. However, you can make any terminal #1 by removing the distributor, turning the gear and reinstalling, so your distributor may not be that way. To make certain, remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over slowly with your thumb over the #1 spark plug hole. When you feel the pressure coming out past your thumb, you know that #1 is getting ready to fire. Now, pop the cover off the distributor and look to see in which direction the rotor is pointing and you'll know which terminal is #1. Then install in a clockwise direction 1243.
