Theres a D-17- series three with 3 pt advertised in the paper this weekend. I was going to go have a look. I am not too familiar with Allis'. Can you folks tell me about how many HP the D-17 runs? Enough to run a hay baler? Is the 3 pt live? Anything in particular for this tractor I should keep an eye out for?
He is asking 2000, says its in fair condition.

Thanks.

D-17 gas has 54 HP. They have live hydraulics and PTO through the Power Director (high-neutral-low hand clutch) but not through the foot clutch. The series IV may have had full live power I'm not sure about that. $2000 sounds like a pretty good deal on any runing D17. The D17 is big enough to run some balers but pretty light for some others. Make sure the tractor does not jump out of gear. Most usually if that's going to show up, it can be made to happen while going down hill in 3rd gear. It can be an expensive fix and can get so bad that it has to be fixed or the tractor is almost unusable.
