D-15 series II flying out of gear

I have a D-15 series II It will not stay in second gear and you need to hold it for it to stay in third, Fourth gear will stay in most of the time but will also fly out of gear going down hill, first seems to be the only gear with out a problem. Is this a mjor deal to fix? I have the machanical ability to fix, just not familair with Allis.

George, I have an Allis HD3 crawler that had the same problem. These are a constant-mesh tranny, so the shift collars and the teeth they contact are what take all the abuse. They generally just round off the corners, but it is enough for it to jump out of gear. You can buy the gears for that tranny - if you can afford them. For the four gears on the pinion shaft (that's where they will be located), and the two shift collars, you will probably spend $1500.00 or a little more. I hate to break that to you, but that's what I've found. Good luck, and keep us posted. I hope that helps you.
