power steering kit wd45

I have a 1954 WD 45 and it has power steering. I'm not sure if it is a factory unit but it seems to be. It is a Char-Lynn unit. I need to rebuild the torque generator that is located in the steering shaft. The orings are leaking in it. Can someone please tell me where I could find a kit for this? THe dealership directed me to a hydraulics store but they are having trouble coming up with a kit. I guess i could always guess at the oring sizes but i hate to. it is a model number S101F and serial number 811 1064. thanks very much, Kent

Kent -- I have a S101F a Farmall H. The power steering unit is leaking oil and I just ordered a 21 122 oring kit for it. How do I take the unit apart and rebuild it? How did you do it? Are there torque specs? John

I forgot to mention to be careful and not reverse the hoses. Not trying to insult you but stuff happens some times.

Call Force America at 1-800-362-2994 and ask for the Char Lynn rep.. You can get an overhaul kit from them and anything else in the world of hydraulics. Be most careful to scribe a line down the side of the unit so as not to put the unit back together out of time. They also can help you with the Char Lynn pump if you need parts.

thanks dave. well, i took it apart last night before i looked at this post. i'll bet it's out of time now. I never thought about the timing. i'll see if i can figure it out tonight. i found an oring that was split so i think i'll try to match them up at the hardware store. if not, i'll call the above number you gave me. thanks very much. I am looking at the exploded parts diagram and the only thing I can see about timing issues is that the keyway on the input and output shafts are in the same plane i.e. 12 o'clock positions. Again, I am looking at a parts diagram not an overhaul manual.

Thanks very much! I got some orings today that seem to fit perfectly....i'm going to put it back together this evening and see how it works. I think i can align the body again using the paint scheme. i think it's all faded the same way. Thanks again, Kent
