AC Model B Orchard Tractor

Has anyone heard of this configuration? The bull gears are rotated 90 degrees to the front and there is a stiffening frame from each end of the rear axel around the front of the tractor. The front wheels are wide and their suspension is shorter to compensate for the lowering of the rear of the tractor due to the rotation of the bull gears. The serial number indicates that the tractor was manufactured in 1939. Any information will be appreciated.

What is the Serial Number? All the sources I have, indicate that the first IB was #31101. B orchards were not put in the AC catalog until 1940. As Laura mentions below, the orchard model has the longer torque tube, and no frame. The engine mount had a hole instead of a pin for the front axle.

it is called an IB, there were about 3000 built from 1938 to 1955. if you need a photo or more info send me a note. you are right, it is rotated 90 degrees on the back, shares the same motor, trans, finals, radiator, tank, hood as the B. special frame, short torque tube, foot decelerator, short steering column, different sheetmetal under gas tank. i think what you have is an IB ind. B however they did make some orchard tractors with a longer tube in them with lower seat and steering and hand clutch have seen several out in california and some in southern canada grape areas
