I've trying to find the serial # on the brake housing but I can't find it. Can I tell what year it is by the engine serial number? Is there a posting here that I'm not seeing to tell me this?

Thanks in advance!!

You wont be able to tell the year by the engine #, lots of times motors have been changed out and some times didnt even leave the plant with the correct #. The tractor # should be located below the left rear brake cover, but also ceck beside the diff cover. 7-9249=48, 9250-3544=49, 35445-72327=50,72328-105181=51,105182-126931=52,131243-146606=53. The engine number will be located on the left rear side of engine just before the bell houseing. Some replacement blocks didnt have a # so if you dont find one, dont be alarmed, there are alot out there without engine numbers. Hope this helps, Shane

The serial no. is on the back of the brake housing on the machined area where the lift arms mount, on the left side looking forward from behind the tractor it will be on the verticle surface above the lift arm cross shaft. Sometimes the stamped numbers are filled in with paint and you have to scrape off the paint from the smooth machined surface. Unless the rear end casting is a replacement part it should have a serial no. The brake is under the sheetmetal cover held on by two capscrews on top of the left side of the differential. Follow the casting back and down and look for the machined surface.
