I've had trouble the last two years with what appears to be an injector pump problem. I want to check the tank first for debris to make sure the problem isn't there. The RPM's will pick up a couple hundred along side of a hill. It has also slowed down by itself. That makes me think it's a blockage in the tank. Dad used to dump oil in the tank on occasion, and you know about those little foil bottle seals. It only has 1215 hours on it. I can't imagine the pump going bad. Please send any comments you may have.
Thanks in advance.

Have you drained the filters?

My 6060 does that on occaision also. I found that a small gob or chunk of dirt in the fuel shut off valve under the fuel tank restricts the fuel flow enough to make the engine run lean. At least thats my theory.I've had to take the entire valve out to get it clean. You have to hold your finger over the hole while some one else cleans it.Good Luck
