Allis Chalmers B Steering Question

The plows are made specifically for the B and are not designed to fit anything else. They are not 3 point. They are called two way pick-up mounted plows. The ones I have are not made by Allis Chalmers. They are aftermarket ones made by WIARD Plow Co. in 1941 or 1942. Dad got the plows new when he got the tractor in 1942. I have yet to find anyone who still has a pair like them. Most plows for the B are made by AC and are similar except the mounting is completely different. Mine are manual lift since my B has no hydraulics. Here's a better view of the plows themselves:

The B was never designed to use 3 pt implements. All the different original implements that aren't drawn are mounted and require proprietary implement-specific mounting hardware. There are aftermarket 3 pt hitches made that will attach to the B and since you have hydraulics you might want to consider one of those if you already have a 3 pt plow or other 3 pt implements. Or are you considering putting something together yourself? The B is light in the front end so consider that when adding 3 pt equipment on the rear that may, by necessity, extend farther away from the rear axle pivot point. Lifting heavy equipment that way can cause the front end to rise off the ground. The mounted plows are quite close to the rear axle pivot. The engine side weights and front wishbone weights shown in the photo in my previous post are to keep the front end down when pulling the plow (one bottom at a time) through heavy soil and are not required just for lifting the plows. Similar weights would be advisable for lifting 3pt equipment. I once mounted a 6ft snowblower on the rear of my B with a cobbled together 2 pt hitch as close as possible to the rear axle. It used a come-a-long for lifting. Even with the front weights the front end would tend to lift when the blower was lifted...heavy weight too far back. There are some that use 3pt brush hogs with the B. Maybe someone that has such experience will jump in and advise.

Congrats on your new B! It sounds like the spindles have worn the bottoms of the "spindle tubes". The hard spindle eats away the metal at the bottom of the tube. This raises the top spindle arms and tie rod--which hits the oil pan. You can buy hardened washers to take up the slack where the tubes have worn. Any good hardware store will have them. Just be sure to take a file and square up the bottom of the spindle tubes. Be aware that the B spindle tubes have bronze bushings at the top and bottom for the spindles to ride against, and these are still available from A-C. You can cut a slot in them vertically with a cold chisel, then peel them away from the tube with a drift. Hope this helps!
