How well does a B handle a 6 foot cutter bar?
I've got a 5 footer and it takes too darn long to mow a field. Also, anyone have experience with a B and a pull type mower?

If converted to 3 point, how much can the Blift safely?

The first mower that I drove any amount was a 5 foot belly mount on a crank start Allis B. It probably would have handled a 6 footer all right, maybe a 7 foot, depending on how sharp the sections were and how thick the hay was.

We never did use a pull mower with it,but later we did use a 6 foot ground drive with the 9N that replaced the B, and that wasn't a problem. When I later wound up with a Massey 50 and an attached 7 foot 3 pt hitch mower it was like a jet plane compared to any of the aforementioned rigs. Neither the Allis nor the 9N were really geared right for mowing, in my opinion.

As far as how much a B could lift with a 3 point hitch, I'd guess about 750 lb if the load was right next to the hitch eyes.

Those B's are good tough little tractors, but they ain't that quick compared to some of the competition. If I was an Allis guy and wanted to make time mowing I would maybe kick a D15 wide front's tires and talk trade.

I have a 1952 B and pull type AC. mower 6 foot, The B does well. However i have only 4 acers to cut.

WE OWN A 42 B AND PULL A 5 FT BEHIND ON 15 ACRES NO PROB`S HERE IN E.TX JUST KIKIN BACK,SUCKIN SOME SUDS AND ENJOYIN THE RIDE :)
