1948 Allis-Chalmers ?? Wide front axle /# on top of rear diff "WD5539". Is this the serial number and does this mean its a "WD". Also What is the difference between a WD and a WD-45?

The tracter sat for a about 3 months and now the hydraulics dont work. They worked fine before it sat and the fluid level is still full.

Thanks for the help,
Devin

You are looking at the right number- check the serial number board on the left side of this page- it is a 1948. Other poster might have added another digit, but your 5xxx is a 1948.

that would be a 1950 WD tractor. it was built till 1953 when it was updated and renumbered the WD45 for 1954. There are small variations in the tractor such and motor updates, gear shift lever curved, and transmission gears. From the outside most people can not tell them apart.
---i assume the oil ran out of the hydraulic pump and cavitiated. might need to remove the hose or tube at the pump and fill it backward. possiblly remove a bleed screw on the pump and fill with oil.
