C piston position

My Allis C was not starting and I had to have the coil rebuilt. Does anyone know what cylinder the piston in the magneto needs to point to? I am trying to reassemble the tractor now.

John, I think you might be using the wrong termonology....do you mean the rotor in the magneto

Ron-

I have a Fairbanks-Morse Magneto, type FMK4B. I had the coil rebuilt and when I reassembled there seems to be a timing problem. It started once and it didn't sound right. Now I have been trying to position the piston in the mag different ways. I am hoping the problem is that I just don't know which cylinder to point the piston towards in the mag. Otherwise I guess I am back to the drawing board. Thanks

Did you take the mag completely off the motor or did you leave the mag on the motor an replace the coil
