I have came across an allis chalmers HD7. I would consider it to be average condition, it has a hydraulic straight blade. Can anyone tell me what these dozers are worth? I am told that everything on the dozer does work, also what does this unit weigh?

Collin; TEST RUN this crawler and put it through it's paces, in other words work it. Push dirt with it, Do all the things it's supposed to do. Listen for ANY unusual noises, rumbling in the trans, track carrage, steering clutches and brakes. Pay particular attention to oil pressure and temp. It should not lose oil pressure or run hot. IF and I do mean IF, all goes well after a few hours, AND it look good and is complete, I would expect it to bring about $5000. A great many of these crawlers have been severly abused and have many EXPENSIVE problems, The tracks and carrage is one of these. For some reason they seem to be neglected on most. There should not be dirt build up packed in the carrage. If so, RED FLAG. Check it carefully for hydralic leaks, this is another common problem. In proper working order they are a good machine. With the hydralic tilt blade, it will wiegh in at around 8 tons. Hope this helps, John

Price depends on conditon and how lucky you are. I've come across them running (just barely) for $1000, also seen them for $6000 in nice shape and hydraulic tilt blade. Passed up a pair of them a few months ago for $1000 total (neither running). I assume, like most AC crawler number series, HD7 weighs 7 tons bare. Dozer blade will weigh at least another ton.
