I am looking to buy this engine for irrigation power unit ,would like to know how dependable it would be, it was overhauled 4 years ago, and has just had a new head and valves now due to head cracking ,,is the head cracking a common thing or a fluke of nature ,,, thanks for any input,,, billy

Billy: The 2800 series engine is a very dependable engine and the 2900 is the same engine but more hp by way of turbo. The engine is comman to the combines and as such can be subject to heat if not cared for correctly. That is the main thing I would think made the head crack. I would be a little cautious and want to know the compression which we don't often get but can be obtained on the diesels easily enough.
Should make a good well motor if it is in good shape.
