I got this tractor from my Grandfather and don't know much about it. It runs great and always starts within a second of cranking. The problem I am having is the hydraulics seem to be allot weaker than when I first got it. When you try to lift something with the loader it will start to go up and then make a chunk type of noise and stop. If you hold the lever at the point right before it stops you can get it to go up a little more but very slow. I'm guessing that it is something with the bypass valve in the hydro pump but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help, Shaun

Sounds like your fluid level is low.

If he bought the operator manual and checked all the fluid levels, learned about the great features of the D17, operating controls, etc., he'd enjoy owning a great tractor!

I have a manual and all fluid levels are fine. When there is no load on the bucket it will go all the way up. You put about 250lbs in it and it starts having trouble.
