I own a B Allis Chalmers with one hydraulic cylinder. I use this tractor to cultivate. My problem is, when I raise the cultivater with the cylinder, theres alot of jerking and shaking motion as the cultivater comes up, also when you raise it all the way up theres a squeaking noise that last until you ease the lever down to relieve the pressure. I have disconnected the cultivater and the lift still shakes without any load on it. Is there any adjustment I could make to correct this problem? My oil level is full but I have not changed it. Where the cylinder hose comes out, I noticed a couple of threaded plugs, I have removed both plugs and oil ran out of them. Is this the pump? If I change my transmission fluid, do I need to change the oil in that(pump?)or is it all hooked together? Any help or advice I would really appreciate it. David in TN

you have an airation problme. normally from waster in the oil, or heavy weight oil in the trans-hydraulic.
---drain the trans, differential and pto with the 3 pipe plugs under the tractor. put 8 quarts of universal hydraulic trans fluid in the 1 inch fill plug by your left foot. drain with the hydraulic cylinder collapsed. after filling, stroke it several times and see if it gets the old out and the new in, and maybe fix some of the vibration. you can also crack the hose to the clyinder and pull the lever up and run a quart out into a bucket to get any air out of the pump and cylinder.

Sounds like your pressure relief valve is leaking or not adjusted correctly. The valve is adjusted by driving the seat and ball into the body. I recommend you get an Allis-Chalmers service manual as it explains the entire procedure and has pictures etc. The hydraulic system uses the same oil as the transmission and rear end sharing the housing as the resivour. If it is low, milky or the wrong weight (should be engine oil not gear oil) that will cause problems too.
