D-17IV Oil Slinging Problem

Gentlepersons: Our D-17IV has an annoying characteristic of slinging oil out of the breather located on the valve cover. The engine has been rebuilt (crank, new sleeves & pistons, bearings, new valve guides, etc.), but even after what I will call a comprehensive overhaul it still continues to sling oil. Reading in my service manuals, I came across a factory change in the oil baffle located above the rocker arms. This change placed several holes properly spaced on the baffle to eliminate this condition. My engine has the new baffle or at least the modification procedure. Has or is anyone experiencing this condition? I don’t believe it is exclusive to the series IV. Perhaps the condition even followed its way to the One-Seventy. I read somewhere that an engineer at Allis had a remedy that involved placing coarse steel wool in the breather or maybe in the short breather mounting pipe as a barrier to restrict the oil. I did put some steel wool in the breather, and after a few hours of pulling the field cultivator the right side of the engine was soaked with oil. All suggestions welcomed. Tom
