When I turn of my Allis Chalmers D14 tractor, gas runs out of the carburator. Would anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem. Any help would be appreciated!!

Could be a stuck float or needle valve. Most immediate solution is to shut off the tank valve when you shut off the tractor. Needle valve may have rubber missing on the tip.

My guess is that the needle valve is not shutting off the flow of fuel so it has no where to go. Happened to mine and I installed a carb kit but can't test it since I am in the process of restoration. I finally found a kit for it at: >Link

A question for you: Where/how do the carb linkage springs hook up on the D-14?

Gary,
Yous D14 should have 2 springs for the gov linkage. One spring goes on the gov itself, this spring has what appears to be a weight in the center of it. The other spring hooks into a hole on the arm going to the carb and the other end hooks to an exhaust manifold bolt. This is your anti-surge spring. Ths other spring controls your rpm and is avaliable from agco in 2 different rpm seetings. 1700-1900. I am going with the 1700rpm on my d14 restoration.

I know this sounds kind of stupid but: Which manifold bolt does the carb linkage to manifold bolt spring go to? Does the spring close the carburetor or open it (thus opposing the govenor)?

The spring that goes on the manifold bolt does neither, all it does is help keep the linkage steady, thus preventing a surge or roll in rpm. If you look at the linkage going to the carb, there is a tiny hole in it for the spring to mount. the spring mounts compltely vertical, so just put the spring in the linkage and line it up with the closest manifold bolt and install. As far as ajusting, i would get a service manual for it. Hope this helps
