Allis B Won't Start When Hot Until It Cools Down

Hi! I have a B that runs fine as long as I don't cut it off or if it doesn't choke down. If it is hot and I cut it off, it will not start until I let it rest about 5-6 hours; However, if it is pulled off, it pops off and starts. Sometimes, if I immediately pull back the gas lever and try to start it, it will start, but not if it sits for over 3 seconds. To run well, I have to keep the choke pulled out about half way. Do you think it is the carb or magnito? Thanks.

I had a problem with my AC "C" but here whenever she warmed up and then tried to restart, I couldn't. Try your magneto. I shopped around and found this guy who was 1/5 the price of anyone. He is retired and does this for a hobby. (I sent him extra cash cause it was so cheap).
His name is Ted, phone #717-624-2618. He was friendly and walked me through step by step when I installed the magneto back. It was simple! My tractor runs like a champ now.
PS: I live in NJ and He I think is out in PA. there is no connection, I just like to pass the good word on.

Forty years ago we had the same thing with two tractors- Model WC and a C. Both of them got a magneto rebuild and they worked fine after that. Same problem- died hot, pull started for five feet and would run, but would not start with the battery and starter.

Yeah...takes more spark to fire a lean mix than it does a rich one! Might be a good idea to run the valves, too....Roger?

if it was magnito/ coil related it would die on its own, and not just if lugged down. --- since you have to choke the motor to run correctly, you are shutting down the quantity of air thru the carb because you dont have enough fuel.--- my fist guess would be you need a carburetor overhaul, and check the fuel filter, and strainer at the tank.--- when back together i would suggest you check the timing to see when it is firing. A hot motor can not take as much "advance" in spark while cranking.--- if it dont pop or backfire when hot, then i think you are out of gas.

Mine did the same thing today, hand crank with choke closed no go open choke pull start an BINGO she fire right up. set timing then try hand cranking , wouldn't start pull start one more time, FIRES ( all pull starts were in on an off showers all day). the only thing that came to mine was carb , put her away and told her I'LL BE BACK some other day.
