Mike, there is a hydralic hose inside the Pto/lift arm unit. This hose could be busted and/or the hydralic ram (cylinder) that it goes to could need some attention. If you are gaining fluid at the dip stick closest to being under the seat and losing fluid in the hydralic resevoir it will be the hose or the ram. I've heard you need to replace with dealer hose. Dale, Thanks for the info. Do you know if I need to break it apart at the front of the transmission to get to the hose and cylinder to chech it out?

Mike, Need to drop the oil out of the tranny and the power director compartments. Take off seat. Unhook fluid line to the pto housing. Unbolt the pto shaft and remove. Probally would have to remove the brackets that hold the drawbar assembly. Then under the right final drive,close to the right hand brake rod there is a pin held in place with a small bolt. Remove this pin and you should be able to unbolt the pto housing and remove from tractor. Hook up hoist to seat bolt hole first.Probally will need o-rings for the ram and the pin that holds it in place, new hose,and new seal between the pto housing and the tranny. I'd also suggest a manual. Hope I didn't forget anything. Dale

Hi Mike, I am not sure why this would be happening, but I have a question of my own for you. I need the measuremnets of the frame rails on a D14. I have a Paulson loader for one and want to put it on my WD, I know there isnt much difference, but instead of bolting it all on, taking measurements and unbloting and repeating, I sure would like to get the width prior to all this. I would apprecaite it if you were able to help me out on this, I just need the outside to outside frame rail width. I hope you can help, I appreciate any response and time, Shane

dupontsniper, Measured the frame outside to outside on my D14. It is 171/2 inches. Hope this help.

I would imagine that there is a bad seal between the hydraulic chamber and the tranny if the oil is leaking from one to the other. As far as your question regarding the frame width, I can't help, since I have WD and D17 tractors, and I imagine that the D14 and D17 might have different frame widths. But I would think that in fifteen minutes you could hang the side frames on the D14, and measure the distance where the loader boom arms fit, compare that measurement to the existing boom arms, and see it they are the same. If they are, the mounts should be ok. I have three loaders that fit a WD, two are Paulson. Bought one for the D17, but bought a decent skidloader since, so I never tried fitting the Paulson to the D17. Just wanted it for rock picking after the crops were up, and had to match the rows. If I knew of someone with a D14 I'd measure it for you- but no one around here has one.

The last WD I bought had a loader with J-bolts holding the loader to the side frames. That would not work with the flat frame on the D14, if it is like the D17. Granted, that would make the fitting more difficult- even it is just to measure. I would have expected someone to respond to your post by now, since it's not that difficult to figure out the width. I remember my Dad, about 45 years ago, buying a saw rig from a JD, and then finding out the AC was an inch narrower. I think the AC was 19". If no one responds, your alternative is to figure 'backwards', from the edge of the side frame bracket to the location of the boom pin, but it's easy to get an inch or so off. Much better if someone would post!

on my d-15, it was bypassing oil like that too and i pulled the hydraulic pump out from underneath, and knocked the seals out. now i have one large compartment. it works nice for the hydraulics because there is more oil capacity, especially with a front end loader.

ron, what did you have to do to get to the pump. Are you talking about the seal at the back of the transmission?

the hydraulic pump is located in the torque tube. you have to go up from underneath to get to it. the seals i knocked out are between the torque tube and transmission. that is if the d15 is the same setup as the d14. be sure you follow the manual when removing the hydraulic pump because there is a trick to taking the control rod out. something to do with putting a nail through the rod to keep the spring from extending out. other than that there is not much to it. best i remember maybe 3 or 4 bolts holding it up.
