I have a 1953 AC WD. The slot where the left side insert pin at the pivot point of the shift lever hits is badly worn and will not hold the lever in place to allow for easy or proper shifting. Can the worn slot where the pin hits the shift lever be filed/ground down some and a longer pin inserted to hold the shift lever at its proper pivot point, or should I find a new shifter lever?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Fixed my brothers WC that way, welded up the worn slot, filed round, milled new slot. Made new pin/key to fit drilled out worn hole. Now he has the tightest WC shift lever around. Later WDs and 45 had a key on each side of the ball I think, curved lever transmissions are double key I think.

About 10 yrs. ago my local JD dealer fixed mine by welding on additional metal and grinding it to shape. Worked like a charm!
