hello, I have a question on replacing the govenor and the mag on a allis C,, in the book I have it says to line up the timing marks on the gov teeth and the cam gear????? ? I dont see any marks, am I missing something,,I replaced the gov and the mag, and tried to start the tractor, I didnt let it run long because I dont have the whole thing back together yet no radiator in,, you get the point, but it did start,,sounded rough but stated am I close enough to put it all back together and fine tune later?/ I gues long story short,, is there a particular series of events in reinstalling the mag and govenor I am not doing, thanks pat

Timing made easy; Every site should have such clear instructions with decent visuals. Good and then some.

-- see this old post----- ---basically you take out the spark plugs. have your buddy rotate the motor by hand with your thumb over the front plug hole (#1). when you feel compression, the piston is coming up to the top. stop early, and look at the mark on the flywheel. thru the 1 inch hole on left side of clutch housing (torque tube). rotate the motor slowly the last 1/4 turn untill the TOP or CENTER mark is visible in the timing hole. leave it there. ----- now the distributor or mag should be pointed at #1 plug wire (remove the rotor cap).----- -----or just move a little further and see if the mag "SNAPS".----- --- and the point should be ready to open, or the mag ready to snap. adjust the rotor to that point. --- now you are ready to start. after it is running the advance will change the timing slightly. you can then chekc with the timing light to get to the FIRE mark if you wish. you will be close.-----

thanks, that helped, although I didnt have a buddy to turn the motor slowly so i did it with a screw driver through the crankshaft, the radiator is out, well the mag works GOOD, I didnt realize my hand was on the plug wire , as I was turning it, the mag snapped I JUMPED,,man reminds me of the days being dared to touch the electric fence, well got it running, thanks I can put it all back together and then fine tune, that got me real close, pat
