I posted yesterday and recieved only one persons help. I have an Allis B right hand plow and not sure if I have the thing (plow and all the mounting hardware) mounted on the tractor right. I have very poor results with plowing. I know the plow should be in the ground much more than as measured 5". It just basicly skids accross the ground. I have the unit, to the best of my thinking, as far as it will go for deep tilage. I need help with this plow. If anyone has a plow that does a good job plowing let me know how you have it set up. If any one has one mounted on their tractor and can send pictures or something I could use the help. I'm lost as to why it doesen't work right. Help

Hey ed I have a 39 b with a plow mine did the same thing then I remembered the old gent I got the tractor from told me that when I started moving forward to drop the plow an lock the handle in to it's locking notch. An when you go to lift the plow out, do it while your moving, a lot easier to lift out of the dirt

Ed

Are you sure that you have all the trinkets and do dads gismos that hook up the plow? My recollection is that the plow's depth is set by true line of draft. If you do not have all the pieces it can be a nightmare. Also if you could find an operators manual, they can be invaluable for problem solving. Good luck.

Ed,

If you send an email my way, I'll shoot over a few photos of the setup and any other help I can offer.

hello Ed. i can't specifically answer your question, but i can tell you my experience. i have an AC-B. it has the mounted plow with it. there is quite a lot of linkage with mine. i've not had it on the tractor yet. i'm just finishing rebuilding my B. i do have a farmall super A with their version of the mounted plow. it's a much simpler mounting. i was having trouble with the plow riding up out of the dirt. one of the fellows on another board gave me this advice. make sure that the moldboard and point/share are shined up. no rust if it's been in the ground it should be cleaned up by now. the most important part was to make sure the plow point is not worn down too far. these plows do not have any down pressure from the tractor so angle and point are very important. i welded about 2 inches of new steel onto my point and shaped it like i thought it should be after looking at other new points. it worked very well. we're plowing to beat the band now. no more riding out. actually i had to adjust the depth angle considerably so it wouldn't completely bury the plow. working great now. i'm no pro but i hope this helps. greg

thanks for the help. E-mail is [email protected] for the pictures. I had the chance to get out and try one more thing, I put the front hitch in the bottom bolt holes much better luck. I think it's doing much better. It won't turn over ground with much trash though. I'll try to clean up the plow and try that. Where about's in PA are you from? I lived in PA for 15 years and enjoyed it. ED

hi Ed, i'm from starview, just outside mount wolf, PA just have a couple acres. those little plows work great when they are tuned in. ran the disc over everything and am getting ready to plant. potatoes and onions are late. weather just wasn't cooperating. now it's going to be a scramble to get everything done. i'm going to be out of town for 3 days so that's more holdup. hope you get your plow tuned up. when it's sunk and turning over dirt you will smile. greg
