D14 Throttle Problem

I have a '58 D14 that is a good running tractor with a interesting trottle problem. When the throttle lever is in the low to mid range area it works just fine, but when I go to full throttle it wants to die right before I get to full throttle. Once I am in full throttle it recovers from this and revs up to the proper RPM. If I them move the lever back from full just a bit (an inch or so) it will die again unless I throttle back to about mid-way. It does this under load or with no load. Once I am at full throttle is stays at full throttle except for the following conditions under load; make a hard turn or hit a little hill or something. If I am moving it generally will not die, but just sputter a bit and then pick back up. On a hill it will sputter, then pick up and sputter again in ten seconds or so. Hope this makes some sense to someone. Your input is appreciated!

I'd try turning out the power jet 1/2 turn at a time and see if that helps.....will it come out of it with partial choke? Sounds like it might be running a little lean.

Yes, the choke seemed to do the trick. Of course now the RPM's run away so it looks like I have some other adjustments to make. When I turn the power jet out she immediately wants to die. Guess I'll go through the manual one more time and try to start from scratch. Any words of wisdom?
