Howdy fellas,,,,, ,,
I'm about to come into a '47 WC and an WD45 of unknown year. The WC ran 2 years ago but needs some TLC. Basic fluids, tune, etc. The WD does NOT run, bad engine most likely.
Was wondering if the engines would just swap out without major mods.
How 'bout the rims? Would they interchange? The WC is narrow front, the WD is wide. I have gathered I "could" put the wide on the WC since I would have the whole setup on the WD. I just need something to pull a brush hog with but the hydrolics of the WD WOULD be a plus if I could just sway engines. What other stuff would easily interchange? Thanks for any and all input!!!!!

the engines will interchange with out too much problem, the clutch might be a problem. you will need the WD-45 clutch on the WC engine.
You need to know that although the engines will interchange the WC engine has alot less horsepower.
The front wheels will interchange from one tractor to the other. the sheet metal should interchange as will the radiator. Personally I'd sell the WC to get the money to overhaul the WD-45, or if money was no problem then keep both. But don't canabalize the WC to get the WD-45 running.

I AGREE WITH JOHN IN AZ. THE WC ENGINE IS A POOR REPLACEMENT FOR THE WD45 POWER WISE AND IT WILL DEGRADE ANY FUTURE VALUE OF THE WD45. FIND ANOTHER GOOD WD45 ENGINE OR REBUILD THE ONE YOU HAVE. A REBUILD WON'T BREAK THE BANK LIKE A DEERE ETC. TSC OR BIG R AND LOTS OF OTHER FARM STORES CARRY A LOT OF REBUILD PARTS FOR THESE TRACTORS.

wc/wd/wd45/d17 are the "basic" block. An "E" gleaner motor will fit in a WC with only a small hammer (and a drill) WC has 6 bolt rims, WD and up have 8 bolt.
Good luck, Don

A WC and WD-45 engines are differant, if it was a WD it would work with no problems, there maybe a way but not sure how. The wide front should swap easy enough.
