AC Newbie! What to look for in orange?

I've got a little red tractor, about 25 hp that I've owned and used for 10 or so years but there's an old AC with a wide front, bigger than a model B with fresh lookin' paint that keeps callin' out to me whenever I pass it. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet but I'm pretty sure it'll be up for sale soon.
Not knowin' much about AC's, and I know this is a loaded question, what would be the ideal deal for the ideal tractor to fool around with, run, bushhog several flat acres and maybe a little other work? The tractor looks like a late '40s up to mid '50's vintage and from 100 yards away looks a good bit bigger than a B model.
Thanks for any suggestions or thoughts before I go and find out what model it is.

From what you say it is most likely a WC or WD. Could be a WD-45. That would be a score. Other than the usual the only thing I would say is to look at the shift lever boot. The rubber boots worked fine until they dried up and cracked and fell off. Then water could get into the transmission.

Thanks for the tip wdTom! I've run across something about a "hand clutch" before. Do the WC, WD or WD-45 have one and what is it?
Is a WD-45 diesel more desirable than gas powered?
I'm OK with gas but have no experience with disel.
I may not be able to look at the tractor until next week but I should be able to find out exactly what is its before then.

The WD and WD45 have a hand clutch in addition to the foot clutch. The hand clutch enables you to have live power. If you use the foot clutch the tractor, pto, belt pulley if so equipped, and hyd pump all stop. With the hand clutch only the tractor will stop. A WD45 diesel is a bit more desireable but I would take either. Good Luck
