I am getting ready to paint a 51' WD and I want to paint it the original color. A new farm store opened up near us and the have tractor paint on sale. The have all the colors on a chart and the Allis-Chalmers orange looks like a real faint orange not real bright like I have seen may tractors painted. My uncle just repainted a B last year and used the same light color as I see in the store and he said that it was the right one the darker brighter ones were wrong. He restores many tractors and is very particular. Is the light orange correct or not? Thanks Bill {Antique Acres}

I unfortunally don't have a local AC dealer. How much does yours sell for and is Persian Orange the correct color for a 51' WD. I have heard that AC has used several different colors of orange? Thanks Bill {Antique Acres}

The problem is transferring those old paint codes
which were written for synthetic enamels containing lead into new modern acrylic lead free enamels. It takes a good paint man time and patience and a good sample of old paint to get it right.

When I called my local Dupont dealer I was told that the Dulux 008DH was not a good number. Ditzler number was a good number, at over $90.00 a gal.
I used CT paint with a good hardener and so far the finish is holding up well. It might be a little brighter orange than it should be, but, my son and I like it. Painted entire tractor for under $50.00. Its your call, if I did it again I would purchase the automotive paint.
