To remove the hand clutch you must split the tractor. Support the frame behind the bell housing with a couple of angle irons going from it to the ground, bolt them to a wide base to make the front, frame unit stable when you roll the back away. Unblet the steering support and hang the steering wheel from a sky hook. Unhook linkage as necessary. Work on a smooth level sruface. Put a dolly under the drawbar bracket near the front of the transmission and block up under the transmission so it has a fair amount of weitht or pre load. Unbold the transmission from the torque tube and carefully roll it back. Be very carefull as there is not too much weight on the transmission or front end of this unit and it could roll over backwards if you do something wrong with it. The imput shaft from the front of the transmission may stay with the clutch or it may stay with the transmission as you roll the back part of the tractor away from the front. No matter. Now you can unbolt the four nuts on the front of the clutch that hole it to the flange and lift it out. It won't come out with the transmission imput shaft in it. I think the book says to remove it in it's engaged position. If you are going to take it apart I don't think it matters. To get the imput shaft to go back in though all the discs in it will have to be lined up. I would think put the clutch in and use the imput shaft which you would pull out of the front of the transmission, to line up the parts and then engage the clutch with a big wrench on the lever on the side of the torque tube as the hand lever is now on the other half of the tractor. It may help when you go to put the transmission back on to have a couple of 3/4" studs that you screw into the rear endwhere the frame bolts on to act as guides. At this time you can adjust the height of the two halves of the tractor too so as you carefully roll the back into the front they are lined up perfectly. Someone on the back of the tractor with one hand on each back whell can guide it together as you adjust and guide the front into the torque tube. Just be carefull not to tip the rear over backwards. It pivots on the rear wheel bearings which are low and not far behind where you are supporting the transmission and would be/is easy to tip over backwards if you pull back too hard on anything.
