Where do I find model no's and other identifiers on an old AC Mod B tractor. Want to sell with four implements. Been in shed for 25 to 30 years. Would like some idea of fair market value as is. Will have pictures by end of week at www.beddingfactory.com items no. 39a thru 39g.

Fred,

Serial # is on the top of the torque tube, right in front of the shifter. Should be a flat pad (in the casting) with the number stamped. You may have to get a wire brush and clean off old grime and paint. If you have trouble after cleaning, I've had to spray in some silver or white paint and then wipe over it lightly with mineral spirits, leaving the paint in the numbers.

BTW the S/N should begin with a "B". Post it and we can tell you what year it is.

As far as value, I've seen runners as low as $500, but most in decent shape will bring $850 and higher and for well restored or clean ones, $1500 or higher. Implements add to the value also.

And if you post your tractor for sale using the classified ads at any of these antique tractor sites, unfortunately you will get scam emails from international emailers.

You can hide your email address in various ways and if that doesn't work, just get the buyer to call. I was contacted about a Ford 901 diesel for $1500. Seller sent me a check for thousand's over the price and wanted me to wire the difference back to him. Told him I would wait until his funds were confirmed and I never heard back from him. Still have his "certified check" as a souvenier. It was made to look like a bank in FL had issued it--he even used a real bank's name. Called the bank and they already new about the scam--had several others calling them too to confirm validity of the checks...It's a pain having these types roaming the world. We just have to stay ahead of them....
