I am installing a Char lynn power steering unit I recently purchased with some great help from this board, the unit I bought was off another WD, but when the Crankshaft pulley came, it was only a single groove pulley, don't I need a double groove pulley to make this all work? I can only work on this thing on the weekends and it's 5 hrs away on my dad's farm, so I'm trying to get all the correct parts together before I go.Is the stock pulley hard to get off, or will just a standard puller do the trick. The pulley that was sent with the unit has four set screw, or centering bolts on it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brad

I installed a complete ps system on my wd.It took the better part of the day and was worth every minute. The crankshaft pully is a double grove with one belt running the ps pump and the other the generator and fan.The hardest part was handeling the ps controller that is mounted to the frame on the r/side.The steering shaft will need to be replaced or modified, also the linkage controlling the gas and return return spring. If I remember correctly I reset the governor linkage also. The steering wheel was a pain to get off.The ps resivour is mounted under the hood on the r/side and the fill and mounting holes needed to be drilled. The old single grove pully came off easy with the slight persuasion of a hammer.Hope any of this information helps.

I used the AC 2 groove pulley for my Char Lynn unit. I used one groove to drive the alternator and power steering pump and the other groove to drive the water pump. I felt I could keep a higher belt tension on the alternator and power steering pump without hurting anything. The water pump is not the best unit to run with a lot of belt tension if you can avoid it.

Brad, I had to go look at mine to tell you. My WD45 with Charlyn PS is a one belt setup. I think you are headed the right direction. You should also have a braket that mounts the pump above and to the right in front of the engine. John

Hi Brad; The pulley you have is probably the one that came with the Char-Lynn unit . You need to remove the origonal pulley & the new one fastens up next to it from the back and is held by the set screws you mentioned. I may have the instructions that came with a Char- Lynn unit .Will look and make you a copy if I can find them Cant say about how hard it is to get the origonal off. Some times you can remove the tapered setscrew and drive it off with a heavy hammer and a drift. John in Mo.
