Hi, I have a AC D12 I think its a D12 and not a D10 although according to the Owner manual there is little difference other than the D10 being designed for singlw row cultivation and the D12 for double.. Anyway does anyone know how much horsepower myy tractor is suppose to have. Secondly what is the minimum HP need to pull a 3 furrow plough..

Nebraska tested both the D10 & D12. 33.5 & 33.3 on
belt respectively and 28.8 & 29.4 on the drawbar
respectively. Old wisdom was that 10 hp per bottom
was needed. But in those days, people were happy
going 2 miles per hour. Today the plowing is done at
closer to 5 mph so you need more like 15. Thes tractors
you ask about have enough horsepower for slow plowing but lack the weight to do it. They should handle
2 easily but might still need weights.
Regards,
