does anyone have a picture or wiring diagram for the c, i have a autolite generator with a cut out and no lights. any help would be great. thanks in advance jason becker

where do the 2 wires on the cutout go to, i know one goes to ammeter maybe? does the other go to the generator?. what i need to know is how to wire the generator up properly with the cutout.

there are two terminals on the generator "A" and "F". -----The "A" terminal goes to the cutout and the other end of the cutout goes to the ampmeter, amp goes to the battery.
--Now for the "F" terminal. IT is basically the "ground" terminal. THE F runs to the light switch resistor. with the switch pushed off, the F goes thru the resistor to ground and limits the charge to 2 amps, since you have a resistance to ground. With the light switch pulled out (on) you get the F wire grounded directly, not thru the resistor, and this gives you full charge or about 8 amps. I dont know the terminal number on the switch that "F" goes to, but it would be the ungrounded side of the resistor. For a test, you can ground the "F" wire at the generator and see that you get a good 8 amp charge.

in that case where would you run the f terminal wire to if your not using lights. would i have to buy a special light switch with a resistor for a field wire or hook it somewhere else.

well, i think the light switch resistor is about 2 ohms. you could get a resistor and hard wire to get 2 amp charge all the time. --- you could ground the F terminal and get 8 amps all the time, (ok if you only run an hour a couple times a week, would not run 8 hour per day like this)--- or you could connect to a toggle switch and turn the ground off manually and only charge an hour a day when you want. ---last, you could get a 6 volt voltage regulator and wire it up so the regulator cut in and out and charge the battery as it required charging, but this is probably the most expensive.----- to be cheap, i would connect to a toggle and charge it once a week when running.

The Field coils in these generators will not stand to run a full charge for long. Either have someone fix the systen properly as it was originally or install a voltage regulator that is matched to the generator. The cheap fix of a toggle switch will end up costing more in the long run.
